The Top 3 Reasons to Donate to the Fish and Wildlife Foundation of Florida

Florida is known as one of the hottest tourist states in America. With their warm weather, appealing beaches, and popular fishing locations, many people want to vacation there. Unfortunately, because of their many years of attracting all sorts of people, Florida’s nature and wildlife have been facing many threats. With organizations, just like the Fish and Wildlife Foundation of Florida, there are plenty of conservation efforts to help restore these beautiful regions.

1.
Combat Invasive Species

Invasive species in Florida are huge contributors to declining populations. These individuals are introduced to new environments, and if they are successful, they can outcompete the native species and create chaos in the ecosystem. Humans introduced the Burmese Pythons into the Everglades. People wanted them as household pets, but it may be surprising that they are better kept in the wild. Since they were first released, they have been increasing in numbers and consuming the important native species of the Everglades.

Other invasive species, like the Burmese Python, are causing problems in the Florida ecosystems. Thankfully, organizations like this are raising money to combat these species and reduce their abundances, in hopes to restore the natural flow of these ecosystems. 2.     Restoring Coral Reefs

The beautiful coral reefs found in Florida are a hit for many tourists. Their bright colors and diverse species of fish make them a site to see. Unfortunately, coral bleaching is a huge problem that these organisms face. The warming water temperatures strip them of their colors and make them an unsuitable habitat for many fish. This organization works to restore these habitats for the long run. Not only are they a glorious site to see, but they support many species, provide coastline protection from storms, and regulate carbon dioxide levels.

3.     Conserving Wildlife

Florida is home to so many different species of wildlife including plants and animals. These individuals work together to provide us clean drinking water, healthy food products, and useful resources in chemistry, agriculture, and medicine. These are only a few ways that nature and wildlife are useful for us, yet we continue to destroy these areas and hurt the wildlife. There are plenty of projects supported by the Fish and Wildlife Foundation of Florida to improve the quality of these environments.

Now, these are only the top 3 reasons to donate to this organization, there are plenty more reasons to be explored.
