Drinks, Dinner, and Desserts: A Review of Skipper's Dockside Restaurant

After a long day of kayaking and enjoying Bahia Honda State Park, our group of Tropical Ospreys headed to Skipper’s Dockside restaurant in Key Largo for dinner. Everyone was ready to enjoy dinner as a group on our last night in Florida. It was Dom’s 21st birthday, an occasion he had been anticipating and planning since January and was excited to celebrate in the Florida Keys. The drinks, alcoholic or not, seemed to be enjoyed by everyone.
For dinner, the hamburgers with specialized toppings and fresh fish tacos seemed to be a hit with our group. The Philly cheesesteak flatbread was apparently not reminiscent of this famous Philly favorite, but was found to be tasty by some members of our group. I found the mango slaw to be tasty. However, don’t fill up on dinner, because the desserts at Skipper’s Dockside are delicious. The flourless chocolate cake was rich and decadent, almost too chocolatey, so I recommend it only to true chocoholics. Some other group members tried the coconut banana pudding with rum raisin ice cream and were pretty satisfied with their choice.
The restaurant has outdoor seating, with a view of a marina. The island-style music was live and gave a nice beachy vibe to the restaurant. The décor was also in line with the beachy style that is commonplace in the Florida Keys. The restaurant also allows dogs on their patio and our table entertained ourselves by making friends with a dog at the neighboring table who was treated to a special meal of her own.
Our group was split between two tables, and ours received dinner well before the other table. We were finished with our dessert before the other group even finished dinner. Fortunately, Skipper’s Dockside has a nice sitting area, covered in sand, with chairs around a faux fireplace for people to enjoy. In addition, games of corn hole entertained us while the others finished eating.

  1. I had the fish tacos too and they were great! The drinks were also very good and the live music made the night even better. The view of the pool and docks also definatley helped add to the scenery of our dinner.

  2. This was one of my favorite places we ate at. I loved the outdoor aspect and I especially loved that chocolate cake. It was nice to work off what we ate with a little game of corn hole while listening to live music. A great way to end our last night in the Keys.
