Have No Fear, Robert Is Here

When looking into places to visit while in Florida, a fruit stand is not usually found at the top of the list. Bearing this in mind, RobertIs Here Fruit Stand and Farm is a place you would like to make time for during a trip to Florida. This operation is a family-owned business that specializes in rare and exotic fruits and vegetables that are grown, for the most part, locally. In addition to selling fruits and vegetables, the locale also offers a wide variety of fresh fruit shakes, jams, jellies, sauces, and pickles. Furthermore, Robert Is Here is also equipped with picnic tables and a petting zoo!

Though Robert Is Here is now a popular place to visit, it was not always like this. What is now a complete tourist destination once began as a simple fruit stand. The origin of Robert Is Here began in 1959, when Robert Moehling, at the age of six, was sent by his father to sell cucumbers. The story goes that on the first day, Robert was unable to sell anything. Believing that no one had seen the young boy, Robert’s father made a sign which read, “Robert Is Here” in large, red letters. The next day, Robert managed to sell his entire stock of cucumbers and the rest was history. From there, the fruit stand began to further expand and Robert’s drive led the operation to where it is today.

Now, Robert’s children also partake in the family business. Since the age of 11, each of the four children began working at the farm and was given an avocado grove to manage at the age of 14. Now that they are older and have gone through college, they have all returned to work and help manage the business. Not only does Robert Is Here sell locally, but they also ship their products to surrounding areas. To this day, Robert is still working, and he is still seen helping locals and tourists at his fruit stand.

  1. Hi Michelle,

I loved going to visit Robert Is Here because it has so much going on, and the backstory for why it has such a unique name that catches your eye makes it even more interesting. I loved being able to pet the animals, and how much they had available at the stand, with many different interesting types of hot sauces, dressings, and salt/sugar for when you want to make drinks at home. The milkshake I got was super good as well, even though I ended up having to shotgun it instead of drinking it like a normal person.

  2. I really enjoyed visiting Robert Is Here. I was super excited to see that they had jackfruit available since that is not commonly seen in New Jersey. I can only find it at an Indian market, and even then, it is not fresh. Hopefully, his children share the same enthusiasm for providing fresh crops for years to come. In the future, I will defiantly have to make a trip and try more of the unique products available.

  3. Hi Michelle,
I loved the fruit stand, I really like learning about exotic fruit and this stand had literally everything we would like. The smoothies were so fresh, and the animals in the petting zoo were so cute, especially the emu. I've never seen jackfruit that big either, and I've never even heard of some of the fruits being sold there which made the stand even more interesting.

  4. This was one of my favorite places that we visited during this trip! It was cool to see how popular this local stand has become and how big it has grown. Learning about its history was super interesting. That smoothie was probably the best smoothie I have ever had and getting to hang out with the animals was a lot of fun. I will definitely recommend this place in the future for anybody in that area.

  5. I enjoyed visiting this place. I liked how it was a plethora of different things all in one place. It was probably the only fruit stand, smoothie bar, petting zoo, kayak rental place combo in the whole country. The smoothies were awesome and I bought some of their honey and hot sauce while there and when I tried them they were very good. I will be revisiting Robert Is Here next time I visit the area. Hopefully he will still be there.
