My Top 5 Highlights

I had an amazing time on our trip to Florida and I definitely learned a lot!  Every part of the trip was awesome but I can definitely pull out a few of my top favorites.

1. Scuba Diving
Like a lot of you, this was my first time scuba diving outside of Jersey and the checkout dives. I feel that these dives have helped me to become a much more confident diver. It was so cool to be able to see all of the fish, coral, and plants we learned about in class during the spring semester. I loved seeing the nurse sharks, colorful fish, lobsters, etc. I can’t wait to go back to the Keys and do it again! Check out some of these other amazing dive spots in the Florida Keys.
2. Tagging Sharks
Shark tagging was so awesome! I was so excited when we were able to pull in 3 different nurse sharks. While I didn’t get to help with the tagging or measurement it was really cool that some of us got that experience. It was so cool to be able to touch those sharks and I can't wait to see the pictures from that day.

3. Crane Point Hammock
I really enjoyed our whole day at Crane Point Hammock . It felt great to help out the community and Russel when we were cleaning up the park’s grounds. Then after our cleanup we all had a fun time snorkeling, kayaking, exploring and even got to see some dolphins.
4. Everglades
I also really enjoyed our day at the Everglades National Park. I absolutely love visiting national parks so this was right up my alley. It was really cool to see the alligators, lubers, softshell turtle, and snake. I hope I can go back and explore other parts of the park.

5. Meeting all of you!
One of my favorite parts of this experience was definitely getting to know and become friends with all of you! I'm so glad we had such a great group and all had so much fun together. I really hope we all stay friends! I miss you guys already!

  1. Hi Amber,
It's crazy just how quickly the week went but your highlights were definitely some of the most memorable of the trip. Diving in Florida's waters are a completely different experience than in Jersey and I, being a new diver as well, really learned from the experience too. Though every event we did was fun, I really believe our group was what made the trip special and I'm glad we all had the chance to get to know each other!

  2. Hi Amber,

I cannot believe how quickly this past week went, and I loved getting to know everybody throughout the week as well. Diving was definitely also my favorite part because I love getting to see all of the fish and coral around, and the night dive was especially fun to me. I am really excited to hopefully one day get back down to the Keys and dive down there again.

  3. I will miss seeing everyone. It felt like we all got to know each other so fast, and everyone was super nice and enjoyable to talk to. My highlights were kayaking at Crane Point Hammock and diving. You were a great kayaking partner making it especially relaxing. I loved getting to dive and dart around, getting an up-close look at many of the organisms we learned about. I cannot wait to head down to Florida in the future and hopefully get to see some of the species I missed out on.

  4. Hi Amber,
This week was totally action-packed, it's definitely hard to pinpoint the best moments, but I think you summed it up very well! Snorkeling at Crane Point was definitely my favorite part since we all got to share that experience together, and we all also loved helping Russel. And I totally agree we all have to keep in touch, everyone in our group is super cool, I'll miss you guys too!
