Who knew Spirit had a “Lucky Seat”? I certainly didn’t! Imagine my surprise when I found the golden ticket of Spirit airlines just because I wanted to take a nap.
As our plane reached its cruising altitude heading to Fort Lauderdale, I began looking for a spot to get comfortable for my upcoming nap. The seats weren’t very soft or cozy, so I decided to use my tray table as a place to lay my head down. To my surprise, when I opened up it up, I found this:
After reading the sticker, I was pretty interested in what this “prize” could be. I was expecting a blanket or a snack because I was getting hungry. So, as I thought of my future prized cookies and pretzels, I alerted a flight attendant and asked her what the “Lucky Seat” prize was. To my surprise, the flight attendant told me that I had won 5000 miles to use on a future Spirit flight.
So, no cookies but I’ll take it!
Before landing, an announcement was made about the winner of the “Lucky Seat” and I was given a pamphlet with all of the information to claim my miles. As a person who never wins any contests, I was still in shock even after we landed.
I have to say that before I went on this flight, I had never flown Spirit before and I was very nervous when it came time to board because of what I had heard about the airline previously. I told myself that everything would be fine and if the flight and airline wasn’t that great, I wouldn’t have to fly Spirit again, which is why I found this all to be very ironic. Thankfully, the flight was fine and I thought the flight crew was very friendly. Because of these awarded miles, I now have an incentive to fly with them again. Based on our first day spent in the Everglades, my next trip might be right back here!

I had the same concerns as you before we took off because of rumors I heard form others about the airline. Maybe next time I need to book a flight I will choose spirit because it was not as bad as I expected and who knows I may even win a free flight!!
