Two Girls One Kayak

Two Girls One Kayak

Kayaking is an interesting activity and especially in the mangroves down the pretty river trails and even in the lagoon, but have you ever just REALLY took your time while kayaking. I mean like SO much time that everyone is essentially back where you started and you are still at the mangroves? Well if you haven’t then let me give you a little insight on the adventure that Allie and I went through. Let me just say that we did our best. Our only motivation for speeding up would be hitting Mike but eventually we were so far behind that we could not even hear anyone elses voices but ours. However, it was nice to just sit back and listen to the sound of nature and the sound of us running into multiple branches. Nature truly is beautiful until it attacks you while you are trying to pass by it. It all started when we took off from the kayaking shop, everyone else was already ahead of us and we already guessed that this was going to be our fate for the whole trip. We had not yet accepted it though (stay tuned). As we watched everyone speed into the horizon of the waterway we realized our arms hurt and we still tried to catch up but things were starting to go downhill. Eventually, we paddled our way to the mangrove entry where we started to slow down even more than we did in the beginning.  We slowed down so Allie could take pictures, and so we could not crash into everything since the mangrove paths were more narrow and it was easier to run into branches and what not.

.t.

So skip to the part where we finally catch up to everyone and the first thing we see when we turn is Christina is out of the kayak and people are asking how much further. After being told a while, and after Christina being able to reenter the kayak we continued the journey to the lagoon. We ran into Mike a few times on the way but aint nothing wrong with that. Its all part of the kayaking experience. After getting to the lagoon we really started to get the hang of this whole kayaking thing. We both took turns and sunk into the mush of the mangrove water and almost got eaten by the Earth and then went back into the path where we ended up getting real far from everyone. Not a person in sight but each other.

This is when we accepted our fate but its all good. We just stopped paddling and floated down the ol grove. Admiring all the crabs and continuing to almost get killed by branches. It was very peaceful but everyone probably assumed at this point that we were dead. However we were just lookin at the crabby bois. We started paddling after like 30 minutes of just letting the water carry us and we got good at kayaking but no one was around to witness it of course. We caught up with everyone talked about good tv shows and went to the waterway where we then proceeded to get tired again. Many people doubted us but we made it back to the rental place. We just made it back way after everyone else. We did our best. That is what matters.

Tell about your kayaking experience in the comments!!

  1. My favorite part about kayaking was almost dying, running into Mike as much as possible and of course getting to explore nature in the quite with no one else around because I feel like we got to see and hear more species.

  2. You definitely experience Kayaking differentetly beacuse you stayed back for 30 mins and you were able to hear nature. While me and Christina only heard Mike and Nicole laughing the whole time, so Im very happy that you were able to enjoy and hear the wildlife in the mangrove.

  3. I love that you guys took your time! If you don't stop to float in silence, you don't get to hear the beautiful sounds of nature. The bird chirps and whatever else makes all the noise...
