So Many Firsts in Florida

I grew up in a household with parents that worked long hours. They were always away, even during summer when I was off from school. As a result, there are tons of things and places I have yet to experience. After this trip however, the list has definitely shortened. Here are some of my favorite activities from this week.

5. Florida: I really enjoyed the fact that our class took place in a tropical environment. New Jersey's temperate weather is cool, literally, but I needed a serious break. I prefer the heat and thankfully we had phenomenal weather all week and none of our plans got ruined.

4. Eating out for an entire week straight: I didn't realize we were gonna be eating out twice a day, everyday, with complimentary breakfasts. As an average college student living on campus, I end up skipping breakfast and for lunch and dinner, I usually eat anything from chips to a full plates of food- plus the late night snacking. So, after all the meals I've had this week, I don't think I'll ever need to eat again.

3. Beach and Tide Pools: Surprisingly, this was my first time swimming at a beach in the US. Somehow my family only made it to the beach once in all our years of living here and we only put or foot in the water. I've also never seen tide pools outside of the internet and it was fun looking around for what animals the tide left behind.

2. Boat Time: Before this weekend, I had only been on boats three times and all of those trips took place during my Intro to Marine Science class freshman year. Over the past few days, I've spent more time on boats all together than I have before. I am happy to say that I didn't get sick at all and after the ten (at least) hours I've spent on the water, I feel comfortable enough to come bock out on the water to do more surveys in the future.

1. Sharks, Dolphins, Eels & Turtles: I swam with all of these beautiful beings!!!!!!!! In their natural environment and no animal was hurt or exploited.
